Research
In the Algeciras School of Engineering and Technology (ASET), applied research is conducted in different fields of Engineering: electronic instrumentation, power quality; wind energy, photovoltaics, smart grids, hydrogen, and fuel cells; artificial intelligence (ANNs, machine learning, etc.) applied to various problems in Civil Engineering and Industrial Engineering; composite materials, nanotechnology, additive manufacturing; energy efficiency and energy rating in buildings, integration of renewable energies, CFD simulation of air conditioning systems and buildings; structural dynamics, testing, soil mechanics, and geotechnics; rheological behavior of cements and mortars, high-strength concretes, assessment of industrial waste in concretes and mortars, etc.
The Research Groups whose principal investigator (PI) is assigned to ASET, conducting their research work at our school, are the following:
- Utilisation of industrial, construction, and/or demolition waste for the production of structural and non-structural concrete (TEP-951)
- Structural Engineering and Geotechnics (TEP-976)
- Thermal Engineering (iiTER) (TEP-221))
- Computational Instrumentation and Industrial Electronics (ICEI) (TIC-168)
- Intelligent Modelling of Systems (MIS) (TEP-024)
- Sustainable and Renewable Electrical Technologies (TESYR) (TEP-023)
Similarly, some of our professors and researchers are integrated into other research groups at the university, whose leader is not affiliated with our School, such as the following:
