Bachelor’s Degree in Renewable Energy Engineering (GIER)
The energy transition towards sustainability demands engineers with high-level scientific-technical training and immediate operational capacity in the clean energy sector. The Bachelor’s Degree in Renewable Energy Engineering trains multidisciplinary professionals with full powers to manage current energy resources and lead the design of future infrastructures.
The central objective of this degree is to train the student in functions of the highest technical responsibility within the sector, focusing on the acquisition of critical capabilities for:
- Integral project drafting and development in the field of renewable energies.
- Technical site management of activities and works related to energy engineering projects.
- Learning cutting-edge methods and theories, providing the engineer with the necessary versatility to lead technological innovation.
- Solving complex problems with critical reasoning, decision-making capacity, and creativity in the engineering field.
- Performing measurements, calculations, valuations, appraisals, and expert reports, as well as preparing technical studies, reports, and work plans.
- Control of specifications and regulations, ensuring compliance with mandatory rules and regulations in industrial facilities.
- Assessment of social and environmental impact, ensuring the technical and ethical feasibility of the proposed solutions.
- Business management and planning, integrating quality methods and working effectively in multilingual and multidisciplinary environments.
In accordance with the guidelines of Royal Decree 822/2021 (Article 14), the curriculum is structured into 240 ECTS credits, distributed over four years of 60 credits each to ensure optimal academic progression. The design includes a minimum of 60 basic training credits, of which at least half are directly linked to the engineering branch, ensuring the scientific foundations necessary for professional practice.
The solidity of the training project is reinforced through mandatory and specialization subjects in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Electronic Engineering. The itinerary necessarily culminates with the Bachelor’s Thesis (TFG), which is mandatory and carries between 6 and 24 credits. In this project, the student must demonstrate the mastery and practical application of all the knowledge, competencies, and skills that define their profile as a Graduate in Renewable Energy Engineering, acting as the definitive proof of their professional capacity.
