Procedure for the defense of the Industrial Engineering Master’s Thesis

Proposal

The first step will be to submit the proposal, which will be done in the following format TFM Proposal Application . Once completed, it must be converted to PDF and digitally signed by the student and tutor(s), and sent to the master’s coordination email (master.ingenieriaindustrialetsia@gm.uca.es), to be registered and included in the next projects committee.

Said proposal must be approved by the Final Master’s Thesis Sub-Commission of the Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering at the ETSI of Algeciras, and passed on to the Projects committee

Thesis

The final project must be submitted in a single hard copy, in addition to a digital copy (on CD or flash drive) which must be registered at the center’s secretariat. Likewise, the student must also send a digital copy by email, in a single PDF, to master.ingenieriaindustrialetsia@gm.uca.es(if it is too large, the UCA’s consigna or wetransfer will be used).

Defense

When it is considered that the TFM is finished and ready to be defended, the call for its defense will be requested by email to: master.ingenieriaindustrialetsia@gm.uca.es. This will involve the selection of a deadline for the submission of the document (registration at the secretariat and sending by mail), the selection of a committee, and the assignment of a date and time for the defense. If the defense must be virtual, it must be requested and justified. It should be noted that at least 15 days must pass from the registration of the completed TFM to the defense, and the registration will be after a committee has been assigned.

The defense will consist of an oral presentation, a maximum of 25 minutes, followed by a question and answer session between the committee members and the student, which should not last more than an additional 45 minutes, and will conclude with the committee’s deliberation and grading of the TFM. The grade will be communicated to the student during the same session.

Defenses are public. If you are interested in attending any defense via videoconference as a listener, you must request it in advance at master.ingenieriaindustrialetsia@gm.uca.es.

The list of attendees, and the dates and times for defense and committee assignments, will be published on the usual page: https://etsingenieria.uca.es/estudiantes/calendario-proyectos. This page will be automatically updated as information becomes available. The list can only be viewed from the UCA network or with a VPN.
